Occasionally I make just a quilt block for a challenge or a special project. Below are some quilt blocks I made for a few different occasions:
- Two quilt blocks from Quilt Camp At Sea cruise block challenges - Hawaii and Alaska
- Sisters, OR Quilt show Quilt Block Challenge - Mermaid Goddess
- The State of Oregon quilt block for the Freedom Quilt, currently in design stages around the country, ultimately a gift to the White House.

This quilt block represents Oregon. I attempted to show the essence of the state with a variety of symbols. From the left, going clockwise, The Yaquina Head Lighthouse, The landing of Lewis and Clark & Sacagawea in the Columbia Gorge, The State Seal, The Portland Rose, The State Flag with The State Tree (Douglas Fir) in the background, the State Fish (Chinook Salmon) and in the center are two quilters standing in front of the 3 Sisters Mountains in Central Oregon holding a quilt with the State Butterfly (Swallowtail). The center square is my homage to quilting in general and to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in Sisters, OR. |
