Fat Books for Art & Soul

In October I'm heading to Portland to attend my 5th Art & Soul Retreat. This is a mixed media artists' retreat that is always exciting with interesting classes, great instructors and a reconnection with friends from prior years. There are often small side events that one can partake of such as fiber swaps, trades and fat books. This year I'm participating in a "Heart" Fat Book with a group of 36 women/artists. The criteria are to create a 4" x 4" page on thick paper within the heart theme, embellished to the max. I've included 3 pictures of mine - the front, the back and a second one of the back showing the tag out of it's pocket. I used a doubled piece of 140 lb. watercolor paper and dyed it with ink sprays. I've added lots of sequins, hearts, charms, ribbons and a jointed paper doll with my 2-year old face on it (this is the last time I looked really good). On the back is a Heartsongs pocket holding a tag with a heart song on it. Each of my pages was signed and numbered and stamped. Each of the pages has it's own "Heartsong" that I found by doing a search on the Internet on a song lyrics website. As always, click on the picture for a larger view.
